My name is Shelli Jo and I'm a nicotine junkie.
I am forever grateful to the Q for lighting my path as I've trudged along this quit road. I have learned a lot in the past seven months and I continue to learn each day...whether here or in 3D by application.
Here are a few pearls of wisdom that I've picked up and wish to shine for you:
1. I gotta want to quit MORE than I (think I) want to smoke.
2. Perspective is Everything. Changing my thinking leads to changing my behavior (and vice-versa)
3. People quit smoking (and stay quit) everyday. I CAN quit and stay quit, too.
4. As much as I want to quit for others (especially my boys) I HAVE to quit for ME, and I Am worth it!
5. No one or no thing can make me light up, except me. To quote Mrs. P~"I don't smoke and you can't make me!"
6. Humor is a valuable tool. So is crying when I need to cry & asking for hugs and support (here and 3D) when necessary. Awareness is also key.
7. I Am much stronger than I once gave mySelf credit for.
8. I love my body, mind, and soul by caring for my body, mind, and soul.
9. It DOES get better. I like to emulate Dory in Finding Nemo: "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming."
10. I get what I put in. Reap what I sow. I only have to worry about My crap, my quit, one day at a time. It is not for me to be anyone's judge and jury. I prefer to encourage when I can, ignore what I should, and share my experience, strength, and hope, when led by Spirit.
Life is Good!
Hope from a Joplin Quitter,
Shelli Jo
