A place to pledge no smoking, share your weather, photos and fun facts about your area. All welcome.
HISTORY:
I joined Quitnet on January 11, 2012. Early on, I was somewhat uncomfortable with the other more typical pledge threads. I did however find the Your Neck OF THE Woods thread posted on a daily basis by Colleen R (crip64). It was a pledge post where we talked about what the weather was like in our respective communities and at the same time pledged to remain smoke fee. It was perfect for me, who does not like to talk about the weather! YNOTW became one of the anchors for my quit.
With an established and solid quit I did drift away from the Q for a while as some do. When the Q changed, I had a few notices about the new version, ignored them a little till it sounded imminent.
When I logged into the new Q, I think it was October 2015, it was a heck of shock, all the good threads were missing and most of the elders seemed to be missing. YNOTW was gone as was crip64. It Seemed like it took ages for people to start returning.
Roughly at that time, I was reading a post where a couple newbies were commenting about how exceedingly high the failure rate must be because there were very few people with long term quits. Because YNOTW was so important to my quit I decided to start posting it to keep the tradition alive.
With the apparent demise of the Q it needed a new home.
NEW VERSION 3.0:
A concern I have had with the Your Neck OF THE Woods Q version was that it depended on one person posting every morning to get the ball rolling. I do enjoy the dialogue and hope we all can participate and have more cross dialogue together.
I would like the group to easily accommodate different time zones. And operate 7 days a week, something that is difficult for one person, especially one living in the Mountain time zone. LOL
So do not wait for me, post your weather anytime, on your schedule.
When posting your smoke free pledge and weather report or general comments please use the "Tell everyone how you are...." text box just below "Activities". That way everyone can see it without opening up individual comments.
Use the "add a comment" text box to comment directly to someone's post. Or tag them.
And don’t forget to smile lots!
RULES:
I really hate to list any since they are kind of obvious, hopefully we will only need these three…
There has never been an angry or mean word spoken on Your Neck Of THE Woods, and it shall remain so. Call it zero tolerance if you will.
Saucy is ok but like Mary (Tillitoile) Merry insisted “keep it clean”.
Have fun keeping our quits.
CLOSED GROUP vs. OPEN
The reason for having a closed group is not for exclusivity but to try to limit the number of posts visible on the main Social feed. I think if folks are not interested in YNOTW they should not have to scroll through it.
