NOPE is the bottom line. If we don’t smoke we are keeping our quits. Know we’re all addicts here. That’s why we have to abstain from our drug of choice, nicotine. Total abstinence is the only way to have control over our addictions. So don’t smoke and reaffirm being quit every day. That’s really all we need to know and do. 

Of course there are hard moments in a quit, especially early on. Nicotine is a crafty and powerful foe and will do anything to keep us in its claws. That’s where a whole set of helpful tools come in to make us keep our quit. For me the most helpful one has been coming here to the Q. The Q has provided me with knowledge and support. Knowledge of addiction to nicotine. Knowledge on how to successfully quit. And support from a group of people that knew exactly what is happening to me and kept me going when I needed some help. 

I quit CT but whatever works for you works. If you’re using some form of NRT please stick to the rules of that too. The rules on using the patch for example are there for a reason, namely that following those rules gives you the best chance to success. Stick to the plane. It’s black and white. And life or death. This is not a game. This is addiction and it’s a deadly disease. We can fight it though. And win. One day at a time. NOPE it is and NOPE it stays. Love from Amsterdam and the Navajo Nation.
