Susanna A Two Years Quit. 2018 ?

Good evening Quitsters ?

I have been away for far too long, but in all this time, my quit has stayed intact, a little over 2 years now.
I was the world's biggest idiot, and the world's biggest nicotine junkie. I smoked two to three packs of cigarettes a day for 43 years. When I think about it now, I am so sad to think of how much abuse I heaped my lungs.
See, for years, I walked everywhere and rode my bike everywhere, exercised fairly regularly, and didn't feel any ill effects from smoking. I did get bronchitis in March 2016, and it was bad enough for me to get nervous, and I quit smoking. After that bout, I was still running around, active, thinking I had escaped any serious lung issues. Boy was I wrong.
A few weeks ago, I was hospitalized with pneumonia. After I recuperated, my new PCP asked me to undergo lung function tests. Although I have an appointment with a pulmonologist to get my results this coming Tuesday, my PCP met with me Friday, and told me I have severe COPD.
And I feel it now. I cannot climb a flight of steps without huffing and puffing, I get winded walking just block and doing simple household chores.
I write all this to say that even if you don't feel the effects while you are smoking, your lungs are taking a beating, and eventually they give out. Mine have.
I am not trying to to scare or lecture..... I just hope that somebody will read this and realize that yes, it can happen to you. It's happened to me.
Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I've struggled like hell the past two years to keep this quit. I pray you keep yours today, too ❤
